This Privacy Policy explains how the NewVistas Foundation (“NewVistas,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit newvistas.com (the “Site”) or otherwise interact with us. We have written this policy to describe what we actually do, rather than list every possible practice a larger organization might engage in — where a section does not apply to us today, we say so.

1. Who We Are

NewVistas Foundation is the organization responsible for the Site and for the personal information described in this policy. If you have questions about this policy or how your information is handled, see the “Contact Us” section at the end of this document.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

When you use the contact form on the Site, we collect:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • The subject and content of your message

We do not require you to create an account or provide any other personal information to browse the Site, read the Constitution, or view the Bureau Whitepaper Series.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically logs standard technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you visit, and the date and time of your visit. This is standard web server log data used for security and basic site operation, not for tracking individuals across the web.

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the Site — which pages are viewed, how long visitors stay, and general information about traffic sources, location (city/country level), and device type. Google Analytics collects this information using cookies and similar technology, and processes it according to Google’s own privacy policy. We do not use advertising trackers or social media pixels.

Third-party services that load on this Site

The Site loads web fonts directly from Google Fonts’ servers. When a page loads, your browser makes a request to Google that includes your IP address, in order to retrieve the font files used in the Site’s design. Google may process this information according to its own privacy policy. We do not control what Google does with this data beyond serving the requested font files.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

  • Respond to messages sent through the contact form
  • Maintain the security and proper functioning of the Site
  • Understand, in a general sense, how the Site is used, so we can improve it

We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not sell your personal information to anyone.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (for visitors in the EU/UK)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Consent — when you voluntarily submit the contact form, and, where required by applicable law, when you consent to analytics cookies
  • Legitimate interests — for basic security and server-log information necessary to operate the Site safely

You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us; this will not affect the lawfulness of anything already done based on consent before withdrawal.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information with:

  • Service providers who help us operate the Site or deliver email (for example, our hosting provider and email-delivery service), who are only permitted to use it to provide that service to us
  • Law enforcement or other parties, only where required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of NewVistas, our users, or the public

6. Data Retention

We keep contact-form submissions for up to 24 months from the date of your last message, after which they are deleted. Standard server logs are typically retained by our hosting provider for a limited rolling period as part of normal operations.

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom (GDPR)

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your information
  • Restrict or object to certain processing
  • Receive a copy of your information in a portable format
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA)

You have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Correct inaccurate personal information
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — we do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of today
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights

For all other visitors

Regardless of where you live, you may contact us at any time to ask what information we hold about you, request a correction, or request deletion, and we will respond in good faith even where local law does not formally require it.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. International Data Transfers

NewVistas is based in the United States, and information collected through the Site may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. Where required by law, we take reasonable steps to ensure such transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards.

10. Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to distinguish visitors and sessions when you use the Site — for example, cookies beginning with _ga. These cookies do not collect information that directly identifies you by name. WordPress, the software the Site runs on, may also set limited technical cookies for logged-in administrators to manage the Site — these are not set for, or used to track, ordinary visitors.

11. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Effective date” at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
